Objectives The main objective of this module is to provide students with basic management tools at the Master level and how digital technologies can be employed to generate business value. Based on theories, methods and instruments of Strategic Management, students look into concepts of developing strategic advantages. Moreover, students are able to understand the theoretical controlling concepts. They are competent to critically analyze and interpret models and instruments of operational controlling. Furthermore, students can apply controlling instruments to practical problems. Based on core accounting and valuation methods according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), students understand corporate actions and their implications for a company’s financial statements. Students understand the accounting process and they are able to interpret financial statements properly. A further emphasis is put on the analysis of IFRS financial statements including performance measurement concepts. Furthermore, they are able to analyze business processes and they have basic knowledge on how they are supported by technology in current organizations. They know how data is processed and managed in current organizations and how to extract information relevant for business decisions. They are able to apply basic data science techniques using appropriate tools to support business decisions.
