Objectives To gain a solid knowledge in materials technology to be able to understand most important mechanical engineering materials to an extent necessary to competently select, treat, and process such materials and to attend advanced courses in material science.
Subject Structure of metallic materials (structure on atomic and grain levels), phase transitions and thermal treatment, mechanical properties (elasticity, plasticity, fracture), wear, material testing. Structure of polymer materials, thermal processing of polymer materials, ceramic materials and glasses.

Methods Frontal teaching; examples from industrial practice.
