Objectives |
The development of complex information systems in a heterogeneous application context requires modeling methods for data as well as information objects, including their semantics. The incorporation of semantics and quality assurance gain increasing importance for data analysis.
This course aims at object-oriented data and information models used for information systems design. Especially in a heterogeneous application scenario, the consideration of semantics is of particular importance. Therefore, ontologies are introduced as most expressive model that allow the representation of semantics to extend information systems to knowledge graphs. Additionally, several ontology engineering processes and methodologies are presented. Students gain experience by applying the learned methods to practical exercises.
It is recommended to visit also the course "Conceptual Data Modeling".
