Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Polymer Technologies and Science (PTS) 2015W
Objectives The elective track "Physics of Materials and Materials Science" aims to strengthen and broaden the competences and expertise in the field of material physics in general, and regarding specific topics of materials science in particular. Although the focus is on polymeric materials, it offers a range of courses treating various classes of materials (polymeric materials, metals, ceramics, natural and biological materials). It thus provides an opportunity to learn about similarities and differences of these material classes in terms of their inner structure, the corresponding material property profiles, and their applications. In addition it allows for obtaining a more in-depth knowledge of techniques and methods to characterize and test materials on various size scales.
Subject The elective track "Physics of Materials and Materials Science" contains courses covering the following subject fields:

- Fundamental aspects of general physics and solid state physics related to materials and material technologies
- Specific topics of materials physics, and of materials science and engineering, focusing on polymeric materials but also covering other material classes
- Basic and advanced techniques of material characterization and testing
Further information Please notice the regulation concerning "Seminars in Polymer Technologies" in the subject "Elective Track".
