Objectives This seminar shall deliver guidance and feedback for students’ work on their Master Thesis, as a supplement to regular thesis supervision. It shall secure standards of scientific working, help in focussing research work, and shall provide advice in content related question. A special goal is to develop feedback skills and to enhance awareness of students in regard to potential problems through giving feedback to their peers.
Subject The seminar is organized around short presentations (between 10 and 20 minutes) of the state of the students’ thesis work. Based on these presentations questions and feedback will be issued by others in the class. There are basically two types of presentations each student shall give:

  1. Early stage of thesis work: Intended phenomenon to be studied, research questions, literature / theory to be used.
  2. Final presentation: Theory, Literature, Results, Results, Results.
Criteria for evaluation
  • First Presentation (30%)
  • Final Presentation (40%)
  • Participation in Discussion (30%)

Requirement: 80% of Class Attendance.

Methods The seminar is organized around short presentations (between 10 and 20 minutes) of the state of the students’ thesis work.

Further information Frequently thesis work takes more than one semester. Therefore, it is possible to do the first presentation in one semester and the final presentation in the next semester (longer delays only with special permission).
