Objectives Students are able to apply their skills and knowledge gained from the basic lectures for solving practical and scientific problems in the Business Informatics domain. They can independently handle typical topics from the core area of Information Engineering and are able to acquire state-of-the-art knowledge by corresponding literature. The results of their work are to be presented professionally in both, orally and written form. Students are able to master basic scientific working techniques (i.e., literature research, structured analysis of scientific work and presentation of scientific findings).
Subject Topics are selected from current developments and trends in the domain of Information Engineering.
Criteria for evaluation Assessment is based on a written term paper, an oral presentation and the participation in discussions and reflection of topics.
Methods An essential skill related to the development of scientific papers is the self-directed work on novel topics. In order to train this ability, student participation is self-managed, including studying the provided resources and exercises, as well as presentations, in face-to-face classes.

Study material Students are granted access to project-related literature via digital libraries like ACM, IEEE and SpringerLink. Applicable documents are available at the department library „Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Wirtschaftsinformatik und Fachsprachen“ and at the reference library of the institute.
