Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Electronics and Information Technology 2016W
Objectives This course expands the knowledge of the methods covered in the corresponding lecture. The students gain the ability to develop and analyze measurement systems and their circuits as well as their measurement uncertainties.
Subject
  • Fundamentals of measurement uncertainty and their statistics
  • Calculation of systematic and statistic measurement uncertainties
  • Relaxation oscillators, Harmonic oscillators including their oscillation condition
  • Bridge circuits in balanced and amplitude mode for direct and alternating current
  • Maxwell's equations and their application to inductive and capacitive sensors
  • Examples for inductive and capacitive sensors
  • Basics of digital signal processing
  • Sample-hold circuit, digital-analog- and analog-digital converters
  • Sources of error in digital measurment systems (quantization errors,...)
Criteria for evaluation Two written exams with a maximum of 100 points each
Two home exercises which can yield up to 5 extra points each
In order to pass the course it is required to attain more than 100 points in total and at least 25 points per written exam.
