Competences
Students are able to understand the main fundamentals within the theory of materials (micro-structure, properties, areas of use) for technical applications in the field of mechatronics and mechanical engineering. The fundamentals are built upon basic principles of natural science (physics, chemistry) in order to demonstrate cross-links and foster deeper understanding.
Skills Knowledge
- Interpret the microstructure of alloys (K1) - Interpret phase diagrams (K2) - Understand the physical foundation of mechanical properties of materials (K3) - Understand the fundamentals of physical properties of materials (K4) - Basics of metallic materials and allyoing with related to materials for mechanical and electrical engineering (electr. conductors and magnets) - Production and further processing of metals - Destructive and nondistructive testing - Ferrous materials - Non-ferrous materials, organic materials - Plastic materials, electrical conductors and magnetic materials
