At the end of the course, the students are able to

The students get acquainted with the economic language related to the business topics of the course.
They sharpen their analytical language skills through the study of cases.
The students learn the grammar associated with level B2.1 according to the CEFR.

Learning Outcomes

Business related knowledge: trade flows, foreign trade, incoterms, export agent and distributor functions, trade fairs, banking, banking terminology, types of banks, savings banks, types of bank accounts, understanding the financial crisis of 2008 in the special case of Spain, the stock exchange, stock market activity, investments, financial advisory and coaching, the economic complexity index, outstanding business schools in Latin America, tourism and trends in the tourism sector.

Grammar, syntax and pronunciation: conditional clauses (the zero conditional, the first conditional, the second conditional, the third conditional), conditional simple and perfect; concessive clauses, prepositions, segmental and suprasegmental features (prosodic features).

Criteria for evaluation Ongoing assessment consist of the following components:

  • Written assignments
  • Oral presentations
  • Written examinations

Attendence of 80% is compulsory in the course.
