Objectives
  • Provide students with advanced perspectives on Sustainable Entrepreneurship & Circular Economy Innovation (SECEI)
  • Provide an overview of current research topics.
  • Enable deep dives into advanced topics through group work and presentations.
  • Enable students to conduct industry analyses of selected sectors.
  • Provide opportunities to learn from real business situations and/or translate research findings to various audiences.

On successful completion of this seminar, the students will be able to:

  • LO1: Focus, frame, and structure a current research theme by reviewing academic literature.
  • LO2: Apply advanced scientific frameworks in the analysis of specific industries and firms.
  • LO3: Critically reflect industry practices using scientific reasoning.
  • LO4: Engage with real business, societal, or policy settings.
Subject This seminar provides advanced perspectives on Sustainable Entrepreneurship & Circular Economy Innovation (SECEI) by deep diving into current topics at the research frontier. Theoretical frameworks have to be applied for analysing innovative practices of entrepreneurs and incumbent firms in selected industries. New knowledge from theory and practice is integrated through experiential learning (e.g. simulations, site visits) and/or transferred in third mission engagements (e.g. social media communication campaign, industry event, policy briefs).
Criteria for evaluation
  • Interdisciplinary term paper and presentation as single or group work (depending on course/participant structure)
  • Interim reports of term paper (optional)
  • Active participation in and reporting on interactive formats (e.g. simulation, site visit, teaching case) and/or third mission engagement (if applicable)
Methods Selection of the following methods:

  • Classic lectures to provide an overview on advanced SECEI themes coupled with selected deep dives.
  • Interdisciplinary group work for scientifically exploring SECEI themes (literature review) and conducting analysis on real industries (desk research).
  • Integration through experiential learning (e.g., business simulation, extended site visits, teaching case) and/or third mission engagement (e.g. video, social media campaign, policy brief).
  • Group presentations and classroom discussions.
