Objectives
The core compulsory subject "Polymer Processing" concerns operations carried out on various types of polymeric materials or systems to increase their utility and provides competences in the fields of discontinuous and continuous polymer processing technologies on an advanced level with a special focus on polymer injection molding, polymer extrusion and compounding. Included are aspects of process optimization, screw and tool design, utilizing concepts of transport phenomena, heat and mass transport, fluid mechanics, polymer rheology and processing induced material structure formation along with proper tools of process modelling and simulation. Furthermore, attention is given to productivity enhancement via proper technologies of process automation combined with advanced process control and quality assurance techniques.
