(*)The course combines recognition and observation of various vertebrates at a range of zoological institutions (Zoos, Aquaria, Museums) along with observation of European fauna in their natural habitats. The purpose of excursion to zoological institutions is demonstration of exotic vertebrates, rare species and animals with hidden way of life, and also introduction to successful keeping and breeding of animals in captivity. Students have an opportunity to observe animals in their natural habitats during field excursion into zoologically important European areas, carried out every other year. The field excursion serves also for integration of information obtained during the study of diverse courses in zoology, botany and ecology. Cooperation with colleagues from other fields of zoology, ecology and botany, considerably contributes to more complex understanding of European nature and environment.

(*)The practise is organised as a bus excursion to various zoological institutions. The aim is demonstration of diversity of vertebrates in captivity, or alternatively, demonstration of fauna, whole communities and ecosystems of Central and South Europe during field excursion. This excursion is held every other year. An important part of field excursion are examples of a range of field methods on how to obtain biological material.
