Objectives This group of courses provides competence in chemical laboratory safety, data processing, computational chemistry, as well as literature search, scientific writing and presenting, knowledge in the area of general environmental law, occupational law and product safety law, and gives an introduction into gender studies.
Subject Chemical Laboratory Safety
Acquiring skills of how to handle responsibly and safely chemicals in a chemical laboratory.

Data Processing
Learning how to handle and evaluate scientific data using computer software.

Computational Chemistry
Applying computational tools for theoretical approaches in chemistry.

Literature Searching
Learning how to effectively find and use scientific and patent literature.

Scientific Writing and Presenting
Writing reports and scientific papers as well as preparation of oral and written presentations.

Legislation for Chemists
Fundamentals of environmental legislation, occupational safety legislation, and product legislation.

Gender Studies
Overview on the scientific topic technologies and gender, including the current state of discussion of gender in science and engineering. Presentation of selected examples.
