Objectives
The development of complex information systems in a heterogeneous application context requires modeling methods for data as well as information objects considering their semantics.
This course aims on object-oriented data and information models used for information systems design. Especially in a heterogeneous application scenario the consideration of the semantics is of particular importance. Therefore ontologies are introduced as formal, explicit specifications of a shared conceptualization. Additionally, several ontology engineering processes and methodologies are presented. Practical experiences are gained by using the methods and their application in exercises and examples.
It is recommended to visit the course "Conceptual Data Modeling".
