Objectives Students will be able to apply acquired knowledge and learned skills in corporate finance to solve real-world and/or academic problems in the field. Students will learn to independently deal with commonly encountered problems. Through required readings, students can develop a clearer understanding of the current science behind finance and learn to present written and oral research results in a professional manner. Students will learn to master basic techniques of academic work such as research, structured evaluation of academic work, and presenting academic results.
Subject The course content and topics focus on current developments in academia and real-world finance and business. The course topics change per semester and focus on selected topics. The course is suitable to writing a Bachelor's degree thesis (more info at: http://www.jku.at/ibfw/content/e53739/e136729/e136752/e138375/).
Criteria for evaluation Developing topics in an individual work process, the written term paper will be graded as well as the presentation, in-class participation in the discussions, and critical reflection on seminar topics.
