The laboratory exercise in electrical machines is an advanced course that introduces the behaviour
and operation of vector (field oriented) controlled drive systems.
The laboratory exercise comprises four lessons, each lasting four hours, dealing with different kind of machines:
FE-Analysis of BLAC and BLDC motor cross sections:
Special focus of this lab is put on - Rotor geometries with surface-mounted vs. interior-permanent magnets - Stator geometries with concentrated vs. distributed windings - Analysis and interpretation of simulation results Field oriented control of a synchronous machine: This laboratory section deals with the basics of field oriented control. Models for voltage-, current- and speed control have to be prepared in advance with Matlab/Simulink and will be implemented on a DSpace real time operating system during the laboratory course. Measurements on the laboratory model and simulation results will have to be compared in a final report.
Field oriented control of an induction machine:
A field oriented control strategy is implemented for an induction maschine. As programming platform serves MATLAB/SIMULINK in combination with a DSpace environment.
Sensorless field oriented control of electrical machines: Some basic methods that allow the utilization of field oriented control even without rotational sensors are presented. The most promising techniques will be implemented in DSpace to test the functionality and quality of the proposed methods on a real machine closed loop controlled system.
