Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Polymer Chemistry 2014W
Objectives Skills to perform research projects in a methodologically correct manner and the ability to plan scientific experiments. Experience in the critical evaluation of experimental results
Subject This seminar is performed in combination with the master’s thesis. Subjects of the master’s thesis are discussed and correlated with results published in the scientific literature. Furthermore, strategies for planning experiments are discussed. Last but not least, this seminar is a platform for the presentation of the results from the master’s thesis.
Criteria for evaluation The combined final grade of both this seminar and the master’s thesis is determined by a combined assessment of the correct execution of the experimental work, the quality of the presentation of the results in the master’s thesis and the quality of the oral presentation in this seminar.
Methods Every student is required to give one presentation per semester summarizing and evaluating the progress of his/her master’s thesis. Pro's and con's of the approach pursued in the master’s thesis must be discussed in context with other published approaches.
