Original study plan |
Bachelor's programme Mechatronics 2012S |
Objectives |
Introduction to the basics of construction materials to allow for an efficient selection of materials in the construction of mechatronic devices.
|
Subject |
Introduction of the most relevant structural materials for students of mechatronics and polymer engineering and science with a special emphasis on material properties relevant for mechatronics. Systematic methods are developed by means of examples to allow for an efficient selection of materials. Further aspects on legal regulations, preparation techniques, maintenance as well as cost, disposal and environmental compatibility and customer acceptance are also considered. Material classes discussed are metals, ceramics and glasses, polymers and elastomers as well as hybrids and composites.
|
Criteria for evaluation |
written examination with 50 % questions and 50 % calculations.
|
Methods |
Basic and praxis relevant methods in the selection of materials for constructions, in mechatronics, polymer engineering and sciences.
|
Language |
