Ziele (*)To provide insight into how the field of biochemistry is directly connected to the field of medicine.
Lehrinhalte (*)Medical applications for the design of antimicrobial and antibiotic drugs.

The course is comprised of individual topics designed to enhance recently covered topic in the area of modern medicinal biochemistry, including the development of antibiotics and antivirals as powerful tools against infectious agents. Acquired and inherited mechanisms of illnesses in humans at molecular level will be addressed, particularly in regards to energy metabolism (catabolic/anabolic pathways) as well as signalling cascades. The course provides a broad array of advanced knowledge in medicinal biochemistry and chemistry.
