Original study plan |
Master's programme Web Sciences 2017W |
Objectives |
The student understand the data-engineering specific basis of web engineering, as well as the basics of the Semantic Web. Especially, the students develop a basic understanding about the methods, techniques and tools, which allow to address the data aspects (including semantic aspects) of a web application at the various levels of abstraction across the different phases of a web application's lifecycle.
Thereby, it is not goal that students are capable to apply these methods, techniques, and tools themselfes but rather that they are aware of interrelationships between these methods, techniques, and tools and interdependencies to their own branch of study.
|
Subject |
Modelling: Basics of conceptual modelling, Structural models (Entity-Relationship (ER)-diagrams, Unified Modelling Language (UML)-class diagrams), Verhaltensmodelle (UML-activity diagrams), Content- / hypertext- / presentation modelling; DB & XML: Basics of databases, DB design, DB queries (structured query language (SQL)), Semi-structured data (extensible markup language (XML)), processing semi-structured data (XPath, XSLT, XQuery), Content management systems; Semantic Aspects: Basic principles and architecture of the Semantic Web, Publishing and processing linked data (RDF, SPARQL), Ontologies on the Web (Web Ontology Language OWL), Semantic Description of Web Services
|
Criteria for evaluation |
Grading is conducted on basis of a final written exam considering additionally the student's performance during the practical work.
|
Methods |
In-class lecture supported through moodle-course. Ex-cathedra lecturing complemented by interactive elements.
