Objectives |
The course focuses on the technical aspects of engineering a Web application

Subject |
History and base knowledge of the Internet and the World Wide Web; definition and characteristics of Web applications/Web engineering; introdution to architectures, technologies and languages of the Web: HTML, CSS, PHP, etc., Web development process and tasks from a technical viewpoint: analysis, design, implementation, maintenance; Web quality: usability & accessability, performance, security; selected topics: Web search & extraction, Web personalisation & Web usage mining; Web 2.0; Examples by means of a content management system (CMS)

Criteria for evaluation |
Grades are based on a final written examination, student performance, and in-class participation (practical work).

Methods |
Partial on-site course. Lecture supplemented with interactive elements. The course concludes with practical work and exercises based on a content management system.
