Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Joint Master Programme Biological Chemistry 2015W
Objectives To acquire an understanding of biopharmaceuticals using both genetically modified prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms.
Subject The initial lecture will provide students with base knowledge understanding of producing biological drugs and basic information in related regulatory affairs. The course will proceed to analyze the differences between biological drugs and classical synthetic drugs. Following the introduction, both indications and individual drugs (main groups) will be presented. The course objective is to provide a solid understanding of the action mechanisms in these drugs and all possible risk factors. The basic principles of human patho-physiology will explained in order to reflect on the action mechanisms of these drugs. During the last section of lectures, the course instructor will assign each student a topic where students will be required to prepare an individual presentation based on a similar program being taught at the VSCHT by the same instructor.
