Objectives The course focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of alternative organizational forms and will closely examine corresponding issues. Furthermore, students will be in a position to analyze organizational structures under aspects of strategic relevance and their contribution to innovation. Students will be able to discuss academic texts on the subject, critically reflect, and transfer their knowledge to real-world problem areas.
Subject Efficient design of formal organizational structures from a strategic and innovation-related perspective; double-sided basic problem of organizational design (namely, "differentiation" and "integration"); linking strategic and structural issues; formal structures and their contribution to the development of strategic resources and organizational competencies; modern organizational structures and the innovative consumption of organizational achievement potential.
Criteria for evaluation Case study (40%), mid-term examination(20%), final examination(40%)
