Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Mechatronics 2015W
Objectives This course expands the knowledge of the methods covered in the course "VO Sensors and Instrumentation 1". The students gain the ability to develop and analyze capacitive and inductive sensor systems, bridge circuits and circuits in digital measurement technology.
Subject
  • Bridge circuits in balanced and amplitude mode for direct and alternating current
  • Maxwell's equations and their application to inductive and capacitive sensors
  • Examples for inductive and capacitive sensors
  • Basics of digital signal processing
  • Circuits in digital measurement systems: sample-hold circuit, digital-analog- and analog-digital converters
  • Sources of error in digital measurment systems (quantization errors,...)
Criteria for evaluation Two written exams with a maximum of 100 points each
Two home exercises which yield 5 extra points each
In order to pass the course it is required to acquire more than 100 points in total and at least 25 points per written exam.
