Objectives Introduction to basic concepts and methods in mathematical analysis with focus on areas particularly relevant to physics.
Subject Subject of Part I and Part II:
Differentiation and integration of functions of one real variable, ordinary differential equations; differentiation of multivariate functions (partial derivative, Fréchet derivative) and multiple integrals, Taylor's theorem, minima and maxima of functions; gradient, divergence, curl, and the theorems of Green, Stokes, and Gauss, coordinate transformations; differentiation and integration of complex functions, Cauchy integral theorem and formula, residual theorem; convergence and limit of sequences and series of numbers, vectors, and functions; power series, Fourier series, Fourier and Laplace transforms and applications to differential equations.
