                      | Objectives |
The main objectives of this lab course are
- to establish know-how in advanced testing and characterization of polymeric materials (incl. structure/property relationships)
 - to gather practical experience on advanced testing machines and competencies in data reduction and evaluation, and
 - to strengthen the competencies in scientific-technical reporting and presentation.

In accordance with the associated lectures Polymeric Materials 3 (Polymer Mechanics and Fracture Mechanics) and Polymeric Materials 4 (Functional Polymeric Materials) the main topics of the lab course are:
- Quasistatic plane-strain fracture toughness and strain energy release rate testing of plastic materials
 - Fatigue testing of polymeric materials under cyclic loading
 - Essential work of fracture testing of polymeric films and sheets
 - Advanced tensile testing – Strain determination of plastic materials using digital image correlation
 - Advanced microscopic characterization of multi-phase and multi-layer films and laminates
 - Spectrophotometric characterization of polymeric films and sheets in the solar and heat radiation range
