Detailed information |
Original study plan |
Master's programme Mechatronics 2015W |
Objectives |
The introductory course on internal combustion engines gives an application-oriented overview of the different aspects of modern engine design. It gives the mechatronics students the ability to understand and evaluate the layout and structure of an internal combustion engine.
|
Subject |
All relevant subject areas are presented, in particular
- Structure and function of engine and components - Use of characteristic numbers and mpas - Mixture formation, ignition and combustion - Thermodynamics of the combustion engine - Gas exchange and charge control, in particular turbocharging - Technical fuels - chemistry, physics and technology - Pollutant formation, emissions and laws
The physical and technical laws apply in the same way for all engines, e.g. for vehicles, for model aircrafts as well as for large ships. A system analysis which includes application and environment, shows the interaction of motor and drive system.
