Introduction to the historical dimensions of a contemporary phenomenon
Expanding students' capacity to compare and contextualize historical developments over time and space
Introduction to the relevant theoretical and historical discussion
Subject
The course focuses on the historical aspects of what makes up our concept of globalisation today. The course explores cultural, political and economic processes that have characterised the phenomenon of globalisation from the early modern period. Special emphasis is placed on the manifold relations between Asia and Europe.
