Pre-requisites For safety reasons at least 32 credits verifiably from chemical practicals (laboratory courses with experimental activity of the student) or admission to the master curriculum Biological Chemistry ( positive completion of the "bridge laboratory course" if this has been stipulated)

Objectives The students will learn independent preparation and execution of multi-step syntheses including laboratory safety and required analytical and separation techniques.
Subject Several assignments to synthesize substances from the existing chemical literature in cooperation with researchers. Task include literature searches, implementing procedures, setting up of lab equipment, controlling the reactions, purifying the products and spectroscopic analysis.
Criteria for evaluation Performance in the synthesis, compliance with safety rules, knowledge of background to the specific synthetic tasks, adequate reporting (lab protocols)
