Objectives winter term

Students will engross their knowledge about the macro-aspects in an open, internationally/globally integrated economy and apply it to specific problems. By help of the suggested approaches, they can tackle a variety of questions of macro-economies, particularly the open ones.

summer term

This is an applied class designed to reinforce concepts from open economy macroeconomics. Emphasis is on the application of concepts from international economics and macro-finance.

Subject winter term

Labour market and employment, pros and cons of globalization; distribution and redistribution, economic and currency systems; growth, modeling; long-term perspectives.

summer term

Topics include interest parity conditions, real exchange rates, links between current and capital accounts, international finance, and the choice between fiscal and monetary policy within the EU. Emphasis is on applied exercises through real data problems and readings.

Grading will be based on:

  • Mid-term examination (30%)
  • Final examination (40%)
  • Class participation, solving exercises and attendance (30%)

TOTAL: 100% - minimum grade to pass: 51%.

Moderation for stimuli and guidance, elaborations on selected topics; short presentations and discussion
