| Objectives |
Social and welfare has been and always will be an important and controversial topic in economic political discussions. The course aims to
- provide students with an understanding to develop economic arguments in the discussion on the topic of social welfare states,
- teach students how to apply required, methodical tools of analysis and
- become better aware of the strengths and limitations regarding economic analysis.

| Subject |
The course focuses on economic aspects in regards to social and welfare policy. On one hand, the course will convey economic arguments justifying the implementation of socio-political measures and, on the other hand, convey economic concepts which allow an analysis of socio-political measures. Students will also learn about individual elements in social policy such as retirement insurance and reducing poverty, their effects, as well as comparing alternative forms.
