Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Joint Master Programme Biological Chemistry 2010W
Objectives (*)To acquire an understanding of biopharmaceuticals using both genetically modified prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms.
Subject (*)The initial lecture will provide students with an understanding of base-knowledge on producing biological drugs and basic information in related regulatory affairs. The course will then analyze the differences between biological drugs and classical synthetic drugs. After the introduction, both indications and individual drugs (main groups) will be presented. The course objective is to provide a solid understanding of the action mechanisms in these drugs and all possible risk factors. The basic principles of human patho-physiology will explained in order to reflect on the action mechanisms of these drugs. During the last section of lectures, the course instructor will assign each student a topic and students will be required to prepare an individual presentation based on a similar program being taught at the VSCHT by the same instructor.
Criteria for evaluation (*)Grades are based on the results of an oral examination and the students' work in form of a written report on an assigned topic.
