Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Mechatronics 2012W
Objectives Teaching of the fundamentals of selected aspects and applications of the Finite-Element Method (FEM)
Subject
  • Aspects of modelling, overview of basic and advanced concepts, interpretation and validation of results.
  • Effective treatment of of non-linear problems by finite-element approaches.
  • Geometry adjustment and meshing of complex parts and assemblies (imported from CAD).
  • Contact and friction, roughness transfer.
  • Forming technology (rolling, forging, deep-drawing, roller levelling).
  • Modal analysis of complex parts and assemblies (machine-dynamics, torsional vibrations).
  • Thermodynamics of irreversible processes (heat transfer, parameter-identification problems).
Criteria for evaluation written examination or project work and/or oral examination
Methods Modelling and simulation of selected examples (typically praxis-relevant problems) by utilizing commercial FEM-tools (e.g. Abaqus).
