Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Computer Science 2013W
Objectives Graduates understand the specific characteristics of Cooperative Information Systems (CIS), with a special focus on process- and situation-awareness. They have knowledge about appropriate concepts, methods, technologies, and tools for their development and are capable of designing, implementing, and evaluating them.
Subject (1) Foundations of CIS ranging from service and process description languages such as BPMN, BPEL, UML Activity Diagrams, and Petri Nets to process patterns and finally models for describing the dynamic aspects of situations such as the situation calculus
(2) Composition Techniques for CIS allowing for the orchestration and choreography of services and processes, e.g., BPEL4WS as well as consistency analysis techniques
(3) Elastic and Interorganisational Processes ranging from collaboration and coordination principles to challenges wrt. autonomy, heterogeneity, and cloud computing
(4) Evolution and Mining Techniques for CIS, tackling taxonomies of changes, correctness criteria, situation-aware process optimization, and self-adaptation issues
(5) Specific Applications of CIS in domains like road traffic management, allowing, e.g., to homogenize intermodal situation assessment and traffic coordination processes as well as crisis management, where CIS can build the basis for coordinating rescue processes on basis of assessing and aggregating crowdsourced situation information from social media
