This course offers an advanced study of the elements and principles of computer architecture.
Subject
The relationship between instruction set architecture and microarchitecture manifests itself in a large design space for general-purpose computers. This course examines the influence of technological advances on architectural structure and style by contrasting the milestones of computer architecture: from stack machines, CISC, RISC, superscalar, multithreaded, dataflow, VLIW, vector, to graph reducers and symmetric multiprocessors.
