Objectives (*)Students will develop their communication skills in English to use actively in situations they may encounter in their future professional careers. Students will read autonomously and develop a basic understanding of texts with a sociological focus and as well as carry on discussions.
Students will develop their ability to express ideas and views on topics related to their field of studies in English.
Students acquire skills in initiating communication and responding appropriately.
Students will improve language functions, vocabulary (general and specific) for fluent and spontaneous communication.
Students will develop their discussion skills.
Students will gain practical skills in writing.
Students will be encouraged to do research and start using the APA citing and referencing standards.
Students will develop presentation skills.
Students will develop reading skills to understand factual texts and specialized articles related to their field of studies.
The course also aims to improve study skills for social sciences.
Subject (*)English for Sociologists includes reading comprehension, discussion and writing exercises on:
Contemporary Society,
Sociological Thinking,
Course materials and texts will focus on issues such as welfare, social welfare and social change.
