(*)Students present the interim status of their dissertation projects with regard to the initial milestone plan and schedule, their research objectives, their planned methodology and the current state of the art in the literature. In this phase, data collection and data analysis are advanced and the first ideas of interpretations, discussion and implications have to be presented.

  • Presenting the interim status of a dissertation project.
  • Analyzing and discussing the research objectives, methodology, and data collection.
  • Analyzing and discussing the implications of research findings within the respective field.
  • Identifying necessary changes to research methodology based on interim findings.

  • Presenting and discussing key findings to the public.

  • Oral and written presentation of the dissertation project.
  • Research methods and techniques for addressing dissertation research questions.
  • Experimental design and data collection.
  • Retrospective reflection of the dissertation project with respect to the current state-of-the-art in literature.

This phase is usually reached in the third year of study.

Beurteilungskriterien (*)Attendance of 80% is mandatory. Oral presentation of the interim status of the dissertation project in line with the course objectives - the specific focus has to be on the results and first ideas regarding interpretation, discussion, implications and limitations. Attendance of the first (or second) supervisor is expected. The annual progress report from the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) has to be submitted. In case of major revisions during the feedback, a written statement from the supervisors is required. The positive result shall be described as "successful participation", the negative result shall be described as "unsuccessful participation".
