More specifically, upon completion of the course, they will be able to:
- Carry out titrations manually and with titrators (k2, k3, k4)
- Quantify analytes using spectroscopy (k2, k3, k4)
- Carry out chromatographic separations (k2, k3, k4)
- Report their results in a protocol in a scientific writing style (k4, k5)
|
The course is divided into six consecutive sections with the following experiments:
- Determination of quinine in beverages by fluorescence spectroscopy
- Determination of active ingredients in pharmaceuticals using HPLC
- Determination of calcium in waters by atomic absorption spectroscopy
- Determination of vitamin C by redox titration
- Quantitation of chloride by titration with silver nitrate using a potentiometric end point detection
- Bradford Assay for determining protein content in aqueous solutions
