| Learning Outcomes |
Competences |
| Upon successful completion of the experiment, students are familiar with
characteristic experimental methods and instrumentation used in
biophyiscs. They are able to design and carry out experiments, analyze
results and critically evaluate findings within the context of the
current scientific understanding.
|
|
Skills |
Knowledge |
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills.
They are able to
- plan a sequence of experiments aimed at the characterization of typical sample systems in biophysics (k2/k3);
- eventually prepare samples and perform a sequence of experiments with state-of-the-art instrumentation used in current research projects in the Institute of Biophysics (k3);
- analyze and summarize the obtained results in a report (k4/k5);
- critically discuss the results, also in the context of the current scientific understanding (k5)
|
During the course, students will acquire practical knowledge in the
experimental characterization of common sample systems in biophysics.
The actual experiment and investigated sample systems can vary from
semester to semester. Details will be announced at the beginning of each
semester.
|
|
| Criteria for evaluation |
A combined grade will be determined, based on the preparation and
execution of the experiment, the written protocol and the debriefing
meeting with the supervisor, during which the results will be discussed.
|
| Methods |
Students will conduct experiments in groups of two.
