Learning Outcomes
Competences
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to

  • physically define terms such as field and potential and distinguish them from the corresponding electromagnetic and gravitational forces and potential energies.
  • describe the propagation and superposition of harmonic waves.
  • distinguish the areas of classical physics from those of relativistic physics.
Skills Knowledge
By attending the course, students learn

  • develop solution strategies for physical problems in the field of wave phenomena and relativistic physics. (K3)
  • represent waves in the various representations (with sine/cosine or as complex numbers). (K3)
  • representation and solution of relational problems in Minkowski diagrams. (K3)
During the course, students acquire knowledge in the following areas of physics:

  • Mechanical waves
  • Special relativity theory: Lorentz transformation incl. resulting consequences
  • Electromagnetic waves
