| Students can identify and describe cultural factors as they are relevant to given situations.
Students can present, comment on and discuss these cultural elements in an organized fashion and at the C1 level in English.
Course Goals
Students should increase their awareness of the influence of culture on daily life and work through reflection on current topics from the media and case studies from the professional context.
Students should become familiar with relevant concepts to describe and compare these effects and learn to analyze intercultural situations accordingly, including the requisite (oral and written) language skills in English at C1 level (according to the criteria of the CEFR)

| Students should be equipped to carry on a discussion, either individually or in a small group, on abstract and complex topics after a presentation on a related intercultural topic.
All of the above aim to consolidate and improve the students’ English language skills at C1 level (according to the CEFR criteria)

Basic understanding of various models of intercultural communication and intercultural theory.

Continuous assessment consisting of the following components:
- 80% attendance
- Written homework
- Spoken presentations
- Written exam

| Lehrmethoden |
Concepts of intercultural theory are introduced and prepared between weekly meetings via a combination of assigned texts and independent research, whether individually or in groups.
These topics are explored and illustrated further with during class through various exercises and discussions with classmates.
Writing skills and relevant vocabulary are explored further with guidance from the course instructor, through analysis and workshopping of various texts provided by the instructor and submitted by students.
Students receive feedback on their work in the following forms:
- Individual feedback from the course instructor on a combination of optional and mandatory homework tasks
- Individual feedback from both peers and the instructor on brief presentations on current intercultural topics
- Feedback on written work drafted in small groups
