Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to identify introductory gender aspects in the economy as well as understand and analyse their mechanisms. They can research current international scientific literature as well as apply them to current examples.
Skills Knowledge
  • Students are able to research, understand and and summarize (k2) academic sources relating to an introductory topic (on gender and the economy).
  • Students can apply research findings of international gender-literature to current examples and case studies

Students are able independently engage with a topic and to recognize connections between the economy and gender (k4).

  • an introductory overview of gender-specific economic inequalities in Austria and internationally
  • An overview over the scientific literature to selected current questions and problems in feminist economics, e.g. gender-specific wage differences or intersectional discrimination.
  • Exact course contents are subject to change and will be announced at the beginning of the term.
Criteria for evaluation The course is a literature seminar. Students actively analyse the texts (see KUSSS), reflect upon them, discuss them in the course and develop the topics. This should lead to a scientific paper, developing one of the discussed areas of research.
