Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to apply qualitative research methods in gender studies. They acquire the competence to understand and apply feminist methodology. They are able to apply these competencies independently to their own research projects, from topic identification to data analysis.
Skills Knowledge
  • Students understand (k2) foundations of interpretative social science research from the perspective of Gender Studies
  • Students are able to execute (k3) qualitative interviews, to code and analyze (k4) the collected data.
  • Students are able to plan and execute (k3) participatory observations and can document as well as analyse (k4) the data.
  • Students are able to develop (k6) gender sensitive research designs and put them into practice (k3).
  • Theoretical background of interpretative social science
  • Foundational knowledge of Gender Studies
  • Approaches to feminist philosophy of science and methodology
  • Basic knowledge about the process of qualitative data collection (e.g. qualitative interviews and participant observation) and analyses as well as their application in Gender Studies
