                              - Students are able to understand and critically evaluate welfare analyses and discuss their implications for the design of policy measures in a well-founded manner
 - They are capable of explaining the fundamental principles of empirical methods for causal analysis, interpreting their results in a nuanced way, and critically assessing their methodological limitations
 - They can understand, interpret, and apply theoretical models and evaluate their limitations and areas of application
 - They are able to develop and critically reflect on simple analyses (e.g., replication studies or empirical and theoretical analyses)
 - Finally, they can prepare content and results and present them in a structured and scientifically sound paper and/or presentation independently

                              - Concepts: Social welfare functions, marginal value of public funds, efficiency and equity trade-offs
 - Empirical causes of gender inequality, income inequality, and intergenerational mobility
 - Theoretical and empirical effects of family policies, monetary and non-monetary transfers, educational investments, and place-based policies
 - Theoretical and empirical effects of income taxation, measures to support low-income earners, and measures to fight tax evasion
 - Causal analysis: Fundamentals of causal inference, potential outcome framework, ATE, ITT, TOT, randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental designs (e.g., DiD and RDD).
