  • Students are able to evaluate the shaping of the modern welfare state by the labour society.
  • They can analyse and assess the causal relationships using different approaches from various thematic fields.
  • They can critically reflect on the societal consequences of work and unemployment.
Skills Knowledge
  • Present and analyse the relationship between work and the welfare state (k2, k4).
  • Describe and critically reflect on the impact of changes in the labour society on the development of the modern welfare state (k1, k5).
  • Compare and practically apply theoretical concepts of work and unemployment (k2, k3).
  • Develop well-founded socio-economic and political recommendations for shaping employment and labour market policies at the national and international levels (k6).
  • Historical development of the labour society.
  • Work and employment as a criterion for access to social security (pension schemes, health policy, etc.).
  • Alternative forms of employment.
  • Work and employment from a gender perspective.
  • Political measures against unemployment.

Methods (*)Je nach semesterspezifischer Schwerpunktstellung werden die Methoden an den Forschungsgegenstand angepasst, z.B. projektbasiertes Arbeiten in (Klein-)Gruppen, Literaturexegese, komparative Inhaltsanalysen
