(*)Students are able to discuss digital platforms as a new form of organization and organizing. Student are able identify key characteristics of digital platforms and discuss the role of platform organizing within the context of platform labour.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learning Outcome 1 (LO1): Recall the basic concepts of digital platforms within the platform economy (see course topics).
Beurteilungskriterien (*)In total, students have the possibility to reach 100 points, 80 (80 %) for the exam and 20 (20 %) for the four short essays. A minimum of 40 points at the exam is necessary in order to obtain a positive grade. A minimum of 15 points (= three short essays) from the homework exercises is required in order to obtain a positive grade.

Final grades will be given as follows:

  1. Exam: Individual exam, there is a possibility to repeat it in case of negative results or scheduling issues (retry exam). The exam consists of theoretical as well as practical questions. It lasts 30 minutes.
  2. Homework: there are 4 short essays (5 % each) which have to be submitted via moodle. Feedback is also provided in class.
Lehrmethoden (*)The course uses a combination of different teaching methods in order to

  1. maximize the motivation and attention of the students.
  2. address the learning objectives in the didactically best way.

This includes the following

  • Teacher-centred information inputs, supported by slides and literature
  • Development of content in collaboration with the students on the black board
  • Joint discussions of contemporary case studies
  • Development of solutions to exercise problems in groups, followed by joint discussions with the whole group
  • Individual homework exercises that involve analyzing texts and videos
