Competences
  • Students will be able to independently identify and pursue advanced academic topics in the field of welfare production and well-being, guided by their research interests.
  • They can demonstrate academic autonomy by selecting, engaging with, and applying knowledge gained in courses outside of the Master programme ‘Comparative Social Policy and Welfare’ .
  • They will be able to integrate insights and methodologies from external Master-level courses into their broader understanding of welfare state research.

  • Select and evaluate courses that align with their academic and professional goals. (k5)
  • Adapt and apply theoretical and methodological insights from external courses to their own research questions. (k3)
  • Synthesise knowledge from diverse disciplinary and institutional perspectives to broaden their understanding of welfare production. (k6)

  • Specialised topics and methodologies in welfare production and well-being that are not covered by the Master programme ‘Comparative Social Policy and Welfare’.

  • Diverse perspectives and emerging debates in their chosen field of study, tailored to their personal research interests.
Criteria for evaluation “Optional studies” have to be in line with both the programmes’ principles and the topic of the student’s thesis. Students have to obtain approval by the academic coordinator in advance.

Further information Classes from the partner universities´ other MA-programmes or classes from other universities can be chosen here. Classes must be MA-level, and they must be substantively suitable in the context of the COSOPO programme. Approval by the programme director is required.
