Kompetenzen
(*)Students are able to manually apply game-theoretic solution problems to strategic situations and understand the economic intuition behind equilibria.

Fertigkeiten Kenntnisse
(*)
  • Apply game-theoretic solution concepts to strategic situations
  • Formulate strategic situations in normal-form or extensive-form games
  • Understand and explain the economic intuition behind equilibrium concepts for static and dynamic games of (in)complete information
  • Recall the basic ideas and assumtions of game-theoretic solution concepts
(*)Apply the basic concepts of modelling simple strategic situations in games and apply adequate solution concepts to strategic problems in static and dynamic settings

Course Topics

  • Representation of games
  • Dominance and rationalizability
  • Nash equilibrium
  • Subgame perfekt Nash equilibrium
  • Repeated games
  • Bayesian games
  • Signalling games
Beurteilungskriterien (*)In total, students have the possibility to reach 120 points on all homework exercises and 50 points on tests in sum. A minimum of 50 percent for both homework exercises (60 points) and tests (25 points) are necessary to obtain a positive grade. Bonus points for more points on the homework exercises will transferred into bonus points and added to test points.

  • Test: two individual tests. Each test consists of practical questions (similar to those on homework exercises)
  • Homework exercises: there are 6 homeworks, whose solutions need to be presented an discussed in class

Synchronization of learning outcomes and assessments:

All learning outcomes are achieved with tests and homework exercises

Lehrmethoden (*)
  • Individual homework exercises
  • Presentation and joint discussion of solutions to the homework exercises
