Course Topics

  • Global Health Developments
  • Epidemiological measures (morbidity, mortality, risk, reliability of diagnostic tests)
  • Infectious diseases
  • Introduction into survival models and measures of prognosis (duration models, Kaplan-Meier estimator…)
  • causality and empirical methods in epidemiology and health economics (randomized controlled trials, difference-in-differences method, , logistic regression)
  • Topics in Epidemiology and Empirical Health Economics
Beurteilungskriterien (*)
  • Exam (40 percent): Individual exam, there is a possibility to repeat it in case of negative results or scheduling issues (retry exam). The exam consists of theoretical as well as practical questions.
  • Student presentations (30 percent): students present a paper and a brief literature review on a specific course topic
  • Short literature review (30 percent): students submit a short literature review on the assigned topic

  • LO1 and LO2: exam
  • LO3 and LO4: presentations + literature review
Lehrmethoden (*)
  • Teacher-centred information inputs, supported by slides and literature
  • Student presentations on current course topics assigned by the lecturer in collaboration with the student
