Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to extract, apply and/or further develop concepts and methods presented in research papers on a state-of-the-art topic pertaining to analytics in the digital economy and/or in supply chain management. They are also able to critically reflect on their findings and present them to expert and non-expert audiences.

Course Goals

The course aims at providing students specialized knowledge on research topics pertaining to the field of digital economy and analytics in supply chain management.

Skills Knowledge
  • Learning Outcome 2 (LO2): Synthesize and understand scientific papers.
  • Learning Outcome 3 (LO3): Apply state-of-the-art concepts and methods, using software tools and/or develop own implementation in an appropriate programming language.
  • Learning Outcome 4 (LO4): Adapt concepts and methods to new data or related problem settings.
  • Learning Outcome 5 (LO5): Explain existing ideas and own findings in a well-organized, easily accessible, and scientifically sound way, both in writing and in oral presentations.
  • Learning Outcome 6 (LO6): Analyze and reflect on methodologies and results to draw conclusions supported by the obtained results and applied methods, and identify limitations.
Learning Outcome 1 (LO1): Students recall methods, findings, and their limitations on a state-of-the-art topic in analytics in the digital economy and/or in supply chain management.
Criteria for evaluation In total, students have the possibility to reach 100 points, where 15 % are allocated to active participation in discussions and preparation work for the classes, 35 % are allocated to the presentation and 50 % to the seminar paper. Presentations and seminar papers are usually group work by 2-3 students.

Methods The course uses a combination of different teaching methods in order to

  1. maximize the motivation and attention of the students.
  2. address the learning objectives in the didactically best way.
